Make a difference! The trees of your neighborhood, community and city belong to YOU, and they need your help. DCH Tree Stewards volunteer to preserve and restore our urban tree canopy so that it will continue to provide so many benefits in the future.
DCH will help to determine the needs and priorities for neighborhood tree projects, focusing on both tree maintenance and new planting. Assemble several people to work with you on a project, especially your neighbors, civic association, local legislators and community organizations. At least one person representing your neighborhood must attend our free Tree Steward Workshop in the spring or fall.
DCH seeks a variety of funding sources to support neighborhood tree projects including federal Community Development Block Grants (City of Wilmington’s Department of Real Estate & Housing), state Community Transportation Funds (allocated by state legislators), and annual urban forestry cost-share grants (through the Delaware Forest Service’s Urban & Community Forestry Council )
