In addition to designing and maintaining urban traffic island plantings, DCH works to improve the beauty of public landscapes statewide.  DCH recognizes the crucial role played by parks and open spaces in our communities. The function of natural areas goes beyond beauty and amenity. They are necessary for active and passive recreation close to home and are essential elements of healthy urban living.

Welcome to DelawareDCH consults with municipal agencies and community-based groups through a separate planning and design service, Regional Landscape Enhancement, with the assistance of University Extension Specialist Dr. Susan Barton and horticultural advisor Rick Darke. With this partnership, DCH advocates for and implements green improvements to transportation corridors statewide, as well as Wilmington area parks, plazas traffic medians, and other open spaces,.  DCH helps the city to administer the Wilmington Beautification Commission whose mission is to revitalize parks and public green space throughout the city.
