Home What We Do

DCH believes investment in environmentally sound green improvements enriches the economic, psychological, and physical well-being of the urban and built environment. Based on this philosophy, DCH provides green advice for public landscapes through a number of partnerships with public agencies such as Delaware Department of Transportation, Delaware Department or Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and University of Delaware.

ConsultingThrough its Greening Program, DCH is a key participant in projects devoted to enhancing the beauty, ecology and cultural heritage of Wilmington and Delaware landscapes. From advising on tree preservation and plant selection decisions for new park designs like the Coolsprings Reservoir street tree decisions on streetscape improvements, DCH provides necessary and invaluable expertise to the public design and planning process.

DCH has formed a separate planning and design service, Regional Landscape Enhancement, with the assistance of University Extension Specialist Dr. Susan Barton and horticultural consultant Rick Darke to address challenging public landscapes, particularly roadsides, with ecologically sound approaches. Through Regional Landscape Enhancement cooperative projects such as ENHANCING DELAWARE HIGHWAYS , the Alopocas Park expansion, Two Christina Crescent along the Wilmington Riverfront, and landscape management plan for the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway, we are dedicated to preserve and expand upon landscapes reflecting the natural and cultural beauty of the State of Delaware
