Historic Bartram’s Garden and
Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia

Wednesday, September 22, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Members $65, Non-members $85

At Bartram’s Garden, learn about John Bartram’s founding
role in early American horticulture. Tour the house and
garden with head gardener Todd Greenberg. After a picnic
(box lunches available for purchase), we’ll travel to nearby
Woodlands Cemetery and Arboretum, one of the great
classic rural garden cemeteries developed in the
mid-1800s. Wear walking shoes. Transportation available in
TheDCH’s 15-passenger van.
Space is limited. Please register by September 3.

Flint Woods Preserve
Tuesday, Sept 28, 9:00 – 11:30 AM

Members $10, Non-members $15

Take a morning walk through this piedmont forest near
Centreville, DE, with land manager Mike Weaver, who has
managed the preserve for a decade. Explore the fern oor
of an old-growth forest, watch for migrating warblers in
meadow areas, and investigate how deer browsing aects
plant life. Wear walking shoes (and bring binoculars).
Transportation available in TheDCH’s 15-passenger van.

 

DCH Display Garden
FREE & open to the public

Come enjoy our beautiful garden transformed by fall. Stroll through, relax on our benches, or picnic under the pavilion where you'll find our new self-guided tour brochure. Check out our vegetable beds and ornamental plant combinations ideally suited for low maintenance urban and suburban gardens. During
the work week (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) enjoy our building and its gallery, library and restrooms. Guided group tours are available for a fee. Please contact Sarah Deacle, Assistant Director of Programs, at (302) 658-6262 ext. 117 for more information.
