GREEN THUMB KIDS
Feed Your Garbage to the Worms
A family-friendly workshop for kids and parents
Thursday, September 9, 4:00 – 5:00 PM

Members $3 per child, Non-members $5 per child
For all ages – kids must bring an adult (adults attend free)

Worm composting expert Hetty Francke will demonstrate
how easy and fun it is to start composting. Scoop up
handfuls of wiggly worms and learn the basics of turning a
large plastic bin into a place where your kitchen scraps will
disappear. Discover how to quickly make rich compost
with lots of new pets — we know you’ll love it.

AWARDS CEREMONY
Wilmington City Gardens Contest
Saturday, September 11, 2:00 – 4:00 PM

FREE & open to the public

Share in the excitement as we annou nce the winners in
the 28th annual Wilmington City Gardens Contest. Photos
of the winning gardens will be shown and prizes
distributed for 17 categories. All contestants and judges
are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.

PRIVATE SHOPPING SPREE
Thursday, September 16, 3:00 – 7:00 PM
Always the Garden, Wilmington, DE

All members of TheDCH are invited to this private
shopping event for exclusive discounts: 25% off all plant
materials, and 15% off all non-plant materials. Please
bring your DCH membership card – or join at the door for

TOOL SHARPENING SERVICE
Tool drop off: Nov 3, 4 or 5 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Tool pick up: Nov 17, 18, or 19 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

$10 each (some exceptions)

Available for most common garden tools (hand pruners,
hedge trimmers, shovels, etc.) For more info or to make a

VOLUNTEER PARTY
2010 Volunteer Appreciation Night

We invite all volunteers to attend our fun and festive
