Girl Scout and Boy Scout Badge Workshops
Explore and learn about your environment and the plants in it with DCH! Troop leaders work with DCH staff to design workshop content. Potential topics include ecology, botany, forestry, gardening, composting, soil science and more. Focus on one of many potential merit badges or simply complement your existing programs. Let’s Get Growing Workshops
Appropriate for children 6 years and older and interested adults. Programs led by DCH staff and volunteers. To register, call (302) 658-6262, ext. 22.

  • Flowers in February
    Saturday, February 4, 10:30 am – Noon
    They’re not blooming for us outside, so we’ll make our own! Create a handmade bouquet using the paper craft art techniques of Ray Gibson. Fee is per person. Pre-registration required.
    Members: $9; Nonmembers: $12
  • Ready, Set, Seed
    Saturday, March 4, 10:30 am – Noon
    Learn about preparing a garden bed (we’ll practice on one of ours) and then come inside to learn about the magic of seeds and start some of your own to take home. Fee is per person. Pre-registration required.

  • Strawberries!
    Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day), 10:30 am – Noon
    Sweet treats await you in your garden with this project. Learn about strawberries and plant a terra-cotta planter’s pockets full of them. Learn how to take care of your planter and take it home. Pre-registration required. Fee is per strawberry planter (up to two adults and two children included). Members: $30; Nonmembers: $40
  • Saving Spring
    Saturday, May 20, 10:30 am – Noon
    Make your own plant press in this workshop and learn how to collect and press the plants of spring. We’ll assemble our presses, practice collecting and pressing, and look at some ways to use our pressed plants and flowers. Pre-registration required. Fee is per plant press (up to two adults and two children included).
    Members: $30; Nonmembers: $40

GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION

SPECIAL NOTICE: Registration to any DCH event includes the possibility of photographs taken for publicity purposes.
All events take place at DCH, unless otherwise noted.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS: If you wish to withdraw from a registration event and notify DCH within 7 working days prior
to the event, one half of the registration fee will be refunded. No refunds are granted after that time. Material costs will additionally be taken out of refund. For one-day trips and summer camps, refund requests must be received 45 days prior to the event. Undersubscribed events may be cancelled.

PARKING: for 40 vehicles is available in the Center's lot on a first come, first served basis. There is convenient parking on Gilpin & Scott Streets and in nearby parking lots. DCH is accessible by DART buses 10 & 28.
