Bare Root Tree Training & Planting:
Spring 2010


A limited number of 1 ½" caliper trees (mixed varieties) suitable for planting in your yard will be available to purchase at low
cost. Please submit your order form today – forms are available by clicking on the link to the right.

  • Deadline for Spring orders is Feb 12, 2010.
  • Pick up your trees at DCH on 3/17/10 (9am-7pm) or 3/18/10 (9am-4pm). If you are unable to pick up your trees during these times, please arrange for someone to do so for you. Bare Root trees are perishable and need to be planted promptly.

Tree Workshop

Wednesday, March 17, 6:00-8:00pm – FREE and open to the public – includes pizza!

Part I: How to Plant Your New Bare Root Tree – Make sure that your new tree settles in and gets off to a great start. Pick up your tree and join us for a training class on planting technique.
Part II: How to Raise Money for Neighborhood Trees, Urban Forestry Grants Training – Learn how you can start a tree planting project for your neighborhood. Grants up to $5,000 are available from the Delaware Forest Service. We’ll teach you how to design a project, generate support from neighbors and local legislators, and apply for a grant.

On March 20, 2010, DCH, Wilmington residents, volunteers, and community organizations will join forces to plant over 100 trees at a local school this spring. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Annie Acton at (302) 658-6262, ext. 106 for more information.
