Cercis canadensis
'Appalachian Red'

Appalachian Red

A dazzling new native redbud that features striking, ruby-red buds clustered thickly along bare gray branches. Dark red buds are brighter than a typical redbud and explode with brilliant, glowing, fuchsia flowers at least one week later than other varieties. This selection was discovered along a roadside in Maryland and named in 2005. Yellow fall foliage and textured bark for winter interest make this a real treasure. Rarely grows over 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide.

Grows well in situations where rhododendron flourish: Plant it in deep, moist, acidic organic soil in light to moderate shade with protection from strong wind. Hardy in Zones 5-8.
This specimen is balled & burlapped, 7’ to 8’ tall.
