Arbor Day 2010
April 27th, 2010, 10:30am
Haynes Park, 30th Street and Miller Roads, Wilmington
Join the Friends of Haynes Park, the Delaware Center for Horticulture, local school students, the City of Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation, and other tree supporters to celebrate Wilmington’s Tree City USA status and plant trees in this local city park. There will also be educational activities and tree climbing demonstrations thanks to the New Castle Conservation District, Kerns Brothers Tree Service, Barlett Tree Experts, DiSabatino Landscaping and Tree Service. Mayor James Baker will give remarks and present an Arbor Day proclamation from the City. Henry Poole, the Delaware Forest Service’s Urban Forestry Coordinator will present the Tree City USA award to the City, and Wilmington’s newly hired Urban Forest Administrator, Mandy Tolino, will be introduced. This is a great way to help us reach Trees for Wilmington’s 20,000 Trees by 2020 canopy goal, educate the younger generation about the importance of trees, and celebrate Wilmington’s urban forest.
