TRI-GARDEN INTERNSHIP
This unique internship offers the opportunity to learn and apply horticulture skills in three non–profit gardens in the City of Wilmington: DCH, Gibraltar and Goodstay. Gain exposure to historic and urban gardening while working with dedicated colleagues and volunteers.
Tasks include daily garden maintenance such as weeding, watering, pruning, planting, mulching and upkeep on public landscape planting sites within the city. Individual projects such as garden mapping, plant inventory, labeling, working with volunteers, garden guides, garden tours and an article publication in The Gardener newsletter are encouraged. There are also opportunities to attend plant conferences, workshops, visit other local gardens and judge in the City Gardens Contest.
Requirements: Candidate must possess a sincere interest in the maintenance and administration of public and historic gardens, be self–motivated and capable of rigorous work (able to lift 50 lbs.). The Tri–Garden Internship is designed for, but not limited to, individuals currently entering the horticultural field to get additional hands–on experience.
